George Clooney will be presented with a Golden Lion for his long career when the 83rd edition of the Venice Film Festival gets underway in early September.
Clooney receives the honorary award for his lifetime achievement and the justification emphasizes the actor’s remarkable professionalism. In all his roles, Clooney has also managed to “remain true to himself: ironic and melancholic, fascinating and reflective, brilliant and with an unexpected depth”, writes the film festival in its statement.
Notable among Clooney’s many films are “O brother where art thou?”, “Syriana”, the Oceans films – and “Jay Kelly” from last year, about a film star who, after a lifetime in the service of the silver screen, receives an award at an Italian film festival.
