Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may meet Donald Trump at the White House next week, the American president told the news site Axios.

A meeting was to take place after reports of tensions between the two over efforts to end the war against Iran, which the US and Israel launched in late February.

Trump has been openly critical of Netanyahu since Israel’s war against Hezbollah in Lebanon threatened the peace talks.

But in the phone call with Axios, Trump says the relationship is good, because Netanyahu “knows who’s in charge.”

– We get along very well, says Trump.

An Israeli official says next week may be too early for the visit, as Trump is due to travel to Turkey for the July 7-8 NATO summit.

– It can happen the following week, says the representative.

They both last met on February 11 in Washington.
