The Swedish coffee chain Wayne’s Coffee has gone bankrupt.

Behind the bankruptcy are growing rental debts, reports Di.

It is the franchisor Wayne’s Coffee Sweden AB that has been declared bankrupt. When several cafes have not been able to pay their rents, the franchisor has taken on costs and debts, explains the company’s largest owner, Henrik Mattsson, to the newspaper.

– These are three units that have simply not been able to manage the rent and costs, he says.

According to the bankruptcy trustee, the debts amount to at least SEK 10 million.

Another company will continue the business, says Henrik Mattsson.

– It will not affect the brand or the franchisees.

Mattsson emphasizes that purchasing power has decreased at the same time that all costs have increased in connection with inflation. In Sweden, the brand has 58 cafes.
