In the round of 16 final against England, many people reacted in Sportbladet’s live reporting and on social media that SVT’s commentator Chris Härenstam was very often clear that it was the DR Congo who were playing.
When Congo-Kinshasa was celebrated in SVT’s studio after the match, the presenter André Pops took the opportunity to send a dick to his colleague.
– If anyone didn’t know who these are, you know now. As Chris would have said: DR Congo, says Pops.
He made it a joke by making DR Congo sound like “it’s Congo”.
DR stands for Democratic Republic, but the country is also called Congo-Kinshasa.
England won the match 2–1 after a late turnaround and two goals from Harry Kane.
