The fake quotes get millions of views.

– People invent things that are not true, says the Swede.

The 20-year-old has himself taken part in the lies online. There, the Swedish national team player Lucas Bergvall is being used in an attempt to spread far-right propaganda.

– I have seen it. It’s boring.

Major international accounts fabricate quotes that Bergvall never expressed. Many posts have been widely circulated and in total have millions of views.

– It’s boring. But that’s how it will always be. People make things up that aren’t true. So it is. You might have to count on it a little. I don’t want to focus on that.

Feeling powerless

Instead, he wants to try to get his message out in regular meetings with journalists and people, he says.

– I have to try to be honest in these kinds of interviews instead.

However, he believes that it is unpleasant to be exploited in that way.

– Yes, of course. But there’s not much you can do about it. You are a bit powerless, but I also know that I have good people around me who help.

Sweden went out in the World Cup round of 16 against France on Tuesday and Bergvall, who had his big breakthrough in the national team, was responsible for a strong effort.
