US President Donald Trump said that he was surprised to see Iranians crying at Ali Khamenei’s funeral, as he thought – according to him – that “people hated him,” and he also talked about a recent meeting he would have with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump added in a statement to Axios that Washington and Tehran decided to “take a week-long break from the talks until the funeral ceremony for Khamenei ends,” stressing that neither side would fire on the other during the funeral period.
He also said that the Iranians are begging to conclude an agreement, and that he is following Khamenei’s funeral ceremony, and that he can eliminate everyone, “but there will be no one left to negotiate with,” as he put it.
On another topic, Trump said that Netanyahu asked him to hold a meeting at the White House, and that this meeting might take place early next week.
He stressed that Netanyahu knows who the leader is, noting that they enjoy very good relations.
