The actor Weiron Holmberg is dead.
His family confirms this to Aftonbladet.
– A fantastic loving father and grandfather. We will miss him very, very much, says granddaughter Lindy to Aftonbladet.
He passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of July 4, aged 91. He fell asleep peacefully after a normal morning session at home.
– He was not ill, no more than the usual ailments of age. He was up watching the World Cup recently, says Ann-Christine Bärnsten, a close friend of Weiron’s for a long time.
Weiron Holmberg’s granddaughter Lindy says she will miss her grandfather.
– He was engaged, happy, generally educated and it was nice that he could fall asleep at home, she says.
Åberg’s grief
Weiron Holmberg has been in several Swedish feature films, including as Sven Melander’s friend from Gothenburg in “Sällskapsresan”.
– It was very boring. Soon the whole film crew will be gone, says Lasse Åberg to Aftonbladet.
They haven’t had much contact, but Åberg remembers him well from the film shoots in the late 1970s. The producer Bo Jonsson had worked with Weiron Holmberg before and wanted to include him in “Sällskapsresan”.
– He was a very cheerful and nice guy. We had an idea, which was quite revolutionary at the time, to pick people from the free theatres. Then it was, among others, Roland Janson and Weiron from the Gothenburg Gang.
“Made the roles absolutely delightful”
The role – just like the film in general – has made a big impression on the Swedish people’s soul, states Lasse Åberg.
– Sven Melander and he were some kind of radar couple chasing cheap alcohol. They made the roles absolutely delightful, I think.
He is also in “Repmånad”, “Göta kanal”, “Tuppen” and several of the “Jönssonligan” films.
