78-year-old Loa Falkman enjoys life as both an opera singer and “hype man” in a boy band.
This winter, he goes on a “last tour” – which will hardly be the end.
What started as an interlude sketch in Melodifestivalen has become a real band, sort of. After the success of last Christmas, Björnzone’s unofficial WC song has now passed one million plays on Spotify.
Loa Falkman hope that there will be a jump in the boy band project together with Björn Gustafsson, Eric Saade and company also in the future.
– It’s a bit like the Salvation Army, we keep the pot boiling, so to speak. We stick together and we have text messages and make noise with each other. It’s damn fun, he says.
Perry a fan
The song is just like the group’s previous works written by the Swedish Los Angeles producer Johan Carlssontogether with Mark Owen from Take That. Carlsson has, among other things, written and produced songs for the world star Katy Perrywho according to Loa Falkman is a Björnzone fan.
Fun, Falkman thinks, even if he wasn’t immediately impressed.
– I didn’t know who it was.
In the song’s last chorus, the 78-year-old baritone sings solo. He also supports the actor Adam Lundgren when he raps.
– It’s a bit funny that after 50 years in your career, you can make a breakthrough as a “hype man” in rap like this. It’s a damn good bunch, Björnzone, so I’m extremely happy.
“Last” tour
This winter, Loa Falkman goes out on the road again together with the artist, musician and presenter Tina Ahlin. The trip is marketed as Loa Falkman’s last major tour. How seriously should one take that statement?
– With a whole handful of salt, he says himself.
– I get stimulation from working and you feel good from singing and oxygenating the blood. So we’ll see, he continues.
But why is it advertised as a final tour?
– It’s probably just to attract people, I don’t know.
Corrected: In an earlier version there was an incorrect information about who wrote the song.
