No one knows whether the new Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei will appear during the funeral of his father, Ali Khamenei, who was killed at the beginning of the American-Israeli war on Iran, due to the great security concerns surrounding him.
The body of the late Iranian leader, Ali Khamenei, arrived at Tehran’s Grand Mosque, a day before the start of his six-day funeral, amid a massive official and popular reception, which the current leader was absent from.
Security and intelligence concerns overshadow the funeral ceremony of Ali Khamenei, amid rumors and confirmations from security officials that the new guide, Mojtaba Khamenei, will be prevented from appearing in public or even broadcasting an audio message, in anticipation of a new “beheading” operation, the impact of which Israel and Washington will be investigating in light of the ongoing state of war.
Leaks also revealed that Israel was planning to assassinate Parliament Speaker Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during the negotiation rounds.
American letters
There are those who say that the new guide will participate in his father’s funeral, but Iranian political analyst Dr. Hassan Ahmadian said during his participation in the “Discussion of the Hour”, on Al Jazeera, that he does not expect that, especially after the leaks.
Likewise, former US Assistant Secretary of State Joey Hood believes that these leaks are “an American message to the Israelis and the Iranians as well.”
What is clear from the leak – in Hood’s opinion – is that the attempt to assassinate Qalibaf and Araghchi was going to take place two months ago, and therefore American officials are telling the Israelis in public what they said in secret, and they are also informing the Iranians of what might happen so that they can take the necessary measures to protect themselves.
As for Professor of International Conflicts at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, Dr. Ibrahim Fraihat, he believes that the American leak carries more than one message, including the United States’ attempt to get along with the new Iranian regime to end the current dilemma.

However, Freihat believes that the issue of whether or not the new Iranian leader will appear “takes more than its size because the theory of beheadings is not effective in many conflict situations, especially with ideological systems such as the Iranian regime.”
Israel has cut off heads in Iran, with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and Hezbollah, and yet it has not achieved its goals, in addition to the fact that the Revolutionary Guard is currently managing matters, even in the presence of the guide, as Freihat says.
Guests from more than 90 countries attended, including high-ranking Gulf delegations, which the guests of “Discussion of the Hour” said reflects the solidity of the regime and refutes allegations of its fragility.
But this participation also puts Tehran before a real stability test as the major change stations approach, represented by the parliamentary and presidential elections in 2028.
