US President Donald Trump sent many messages at home and abroad in his speech at the opening ceremony of the Theodore Roosevelt Library in North Dakota, on Wednesday, where he affirmed that his country is determined to control the Panama Canal, spoke of “amazing achievements” with Iran and Venezuela, and criticized “birthright citizenship” defended by the Supreme Court.

Speaking of file Panama CanalTrump considered that granting it to Panama for one dollar was “huge stupidity” after the Americans built it at a huge human and material cost, as 38,000 workers died during construction due to malaria and poisonous snakes.

Trump stressed that the canal was “the most expensive and most profitable” in American history, noting that China is currently trying to control it, but stressed that he would not allow this under any circumstances, while refusing to lose control of this strategic waterway.

Immigration and borders

Regarding immigration and border policy, Trump said that he succeeded in transforming the American border from “worst to stronger and better” within only 3 months of his current term.

In this context, Trump strongly criticized the “birthright citizenship” that grants citizenship to the children of foreigners born on American soil, stressing that this law was intended for the children of slaves after the Civil War, and not for granting citizenship to the children of immigrants from China or other countries.

On the economic side, Trump reviewed a series of records, noting that the stock market achieved 82 new records, with the value of citizens’ pensions increasing by rates ranging between 40% and 84%. He told the story of a policeman whose pension value rose by 84%, which made Trump’s wife consider him a “genius.”

The US President confirmed that inflation began to decline after he inherited “the worst inflation in history” from the administration of his predecessor, Joe Biden, speaking about a sharp decline in gasoline and oil prices, and the success of his administration in attracting record investments to the country, describing the current situation as “the beginning of America’s golden age.”

Criticism of Spain

Trump touched on foreign policy, talking about “amazing achievements” with Iran and Venezuela, without providing specific details. He also praised relations with Saudi Arabia, considering them a model of successful strategic partnership.

On the other hand, the US President criticized Spain, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), describing it as “not a good member”, and spoke about his country’s recovery of Cuba, Guam, and the Philippines in the past, in reference to the American-Spanish War, pointing out that Cuba “will return to our embrace again” after decades.

The American President commemorated the 250th anniversary of the founding of his country, which falls on July 4, 2026. In other cases, Trump referred to the Supreme Court decision that restored broad powers to the president, considering that this “restored America’s strength” at a time when the president needed to make crucial decisions.
