Nagelsmann confirmed after the exclusion that he did not mind continuing his duties, stressing that he was not escaping responsibility, saying that “there are things that must be changed, but this is not the right time to talk about them.” He added that his decision remains linked to the Union’s position, whether to continue or leave.
But on the other hand, German media reports indicate that the coach’s future is in great doubt, and that the option of change has become strongly discussed within decision-making circles, especially after the performance that was described as below expectations in the tournament.
Amid this controversy, Jurgen Klopp’s name has emerged as one of the most prominent candidates to lead the German national team in the next stage, in light of a growing desire within football circles to bring about a radical transformation at the level of the national team’s technical project.
According to press reports, Klopp is open to the idea of coaching the German national team, especially since he had previously rejected several offers from major clubs, and currently prefers the idea of working with national teams instead of clubs, away from the daily pressures of the long season.
The former Liverpool coach is seen as an ideal choice to lead the project to rebuild the German Football Association, given his great experience, strong personality, and ability to create a clear playing identity, which are factors that some parties within the German Federation consider necessary to return to the podium.
However, it is not expected that any decision will be made before Nagelsmann’s future becomes officially clear, as Klopp himself prefers not to take any public position before the end of internal discussions within the Federation.
