Mauro Icardi, 33, is not allowed to leave Argentina, domestic media reports.
The footballer has not paid for his children.
Mauro Icardi has an expiring contract with Galatasaray and the hunt for a new club address in Europe could be difficult unless Icardi resolves his dispute with ex-wife Wanda Nara.
Argentine authorities have banned Icardi from leaving the country and he is now stranded in Buenos Aires.
The travel ban is due to ex-wife Wanda Nara demanding Icardi financial support for their two daughters. Icardi has failed to pay for over 1.5 years and is said to owe millions of kroner.
– He is wasting money that he no longer has, says Wanda Nara Ciudad Magazine.
Worries about the future
Icardi has belonged to major European clubs such as Inter and Paris Saint-Germain. Last season he scored 14 goals in 31 league games for Galatasaray and the Turkish club reportedly want to extend his contract.
According to journalist Ángel de Brito, Icardi’s agency is concerned about the possibilities of signing a new contract due to the travel ban. Therefore, his legal team has requested that the proceedings in the court be taken up as soon as possible.
Public fights
Icari and Nara were for a long time one of the football world’s most famous couples. Not least because Nara was Icardi’s agent in parallel with his jobs as presenter and model.
In recent years, their relationship has been a sordid story with public spats. Nara has, among other things, accused Icardi of stealing 80 million kroner and sent the police on him because he refused to leave her house.
Icardi has accused Nara of so-called “revenge porn”.
