Sebastian Larsson has not had time to talk to his old national team mate. But the assistant national team captain was careful to send warm praise to Emil Forsberg when he met the press on Friday.
– I want to say big congratulations to him, for a fantastic national team career. He has given us incredible memories. Not least as a teammate. I immediately think of how he decided against Switzerland the last time we were in the WC 2018 and took us to the quarter-finals. A fantastic player who has done a lot for Swedish football.

Larsson: “He will absolutely get that”
However, the national team management was taken to bed by Emil Forsberg’s decision, who did not tell the association anything about his thoughts. It was instead in an interview with the television program Fotbollsmorgon that he revealed that he had finished his career.
