A patient in his 40s died of a stroke after a delay in diagnosis. Now lex Maria–region Kalmar reports itself, reports SVT Nyheter Småland.
The patient sought care after a so-called TIA attack, a minor stroke, and was subsequently admitted for examination and observation.
During the time in the hospital, he also showed signs of an acute stroke. But the diagnosis was delayed because the staff did not follow the procedures. The patient died a few days later.
In the lex Maria report, it appears that the patient has been exposed to a serious medical injury and the handling of the case has probably contributed to his death.
