In a pre-emptive operation at dawn, the Sudanese Army Air Force carried out precise air strikes targeting crowds belonging to the Rapid Support Forces west of the city of Bara (the second largest city in North Kordofan State) and north of the city of El Obeid.
Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Sudan, Osama Sayed, reported, citing military sources, that the army used drones extensively in these attacks, which resulted in: the complete destruction of military equipment and military vehicles belonging to the Rapid Support, and the killing of a large number of fighting elements in its ranks.
The sources confirmed that these strikes succeeded in paralyzing the movement of the Rapid Support mobilization, which was preparing to launch a strategic attack on the town of “Al-Dankoj”, which represents the first line of defense and the security depth of the city of Al-Obeid from the northern side.
The Blue Nile region was not immune to escalation. Fierce battles broke out between the two sides in the town of Jabal Karkam (southwest of the city of Sali).
A military source told Al Jazeera that the Rapid Support Forces attempted to infiltrate and penetrate the area surrounding the mountain, but Sudanese army units dealt with the attempt through intense bombardment with heavy artillery, confirming the infliction of heavy losses in lives and equipment on the infiltrating force.
In South Kordofan state, sources monitored a new coordination move, as an alliance including the Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM-N carried out violent and continuous artillery shelling towards the city of Dilling.
Although the artillery shelling continued for a long period of time, the sources confirmed that the shells failed to penetrate the residential interior of the city, as most of them fell on the outskirts and outskirts, without recording direct hits inside Dilling.
