Axios quoted informed sources as saying that the US Central Command (Centcom) has completed preparing an integrated military plan aimed at launching a wave of short and powerful strikes on vital targets in Iran.
Military leaders are scheduled to inform President Donald Trump – today, Thursday – about these new military options.
According to the same sources, the strategic goal behind these intense strikes is to break the current stalemate in the negotiations.
Axios reported that another plan is expected to be presented to Trump, focusing on controlling part of the Strait of Hormuz to reopen it, and it may include the involvement of ground forces.
On the other hand, the Wall Street Journal reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump is seeking to urge countries to join a new international alliance, which would enable ships to sail through the Strait of Hormuz.
In its talk, the newspaper relied on an internal State Department cable sent to American embassies, explaining that the United States’ efforts to form this alliance were called “Building Freedom of Maritime Navigation.”
This cable called on American diplomats to pressure foreign governments to join the new US-led coalition, which will share information, coordinate diplomatically, and enforce sanctions.
It stated: “Your participation will enhance our collective ability to restore freedom of navigation and protect the global economy,” and “Collective action is necessary to demonstrate unity of resolve and impose meaningful costs on Iran’s obstruction of ship transit.”
An American official stated that the idea of the new alliance represents one of many diplomatic and political tools available to President Trump.

Continue the siege
In this context, a White House official said that President Trump and officials of oil companies discussed steps to continue the blockade imposed on Iran for months if necessary, according to what was reported by Reuters.
The Wall Street Journal also reported that Trump ordered national security officials to prepare for a long blockade of Iran’s ports, with the aim of pushing Tehran to abandon its nuclear program.
She added that Trump believes that Iran is not negotiating in good faith, and hopes to force it to suspend uranium enrichment for 20 years and accept strict restrictions after this stage.
In the same context, Axios quoted President Trump as saying that Iran wants to reach an agreement to lift the naval blockade imposed on it, but he stressed that the blockade will remain until the regime agrees to an agreement that addresses US concerns about its nuclear program, stressing that Tehran cannot possess a nuclear weapon.
On the other hand, the Iranian Press TV channel quoted an Iranian security source as saying that the continuation of “American maritime piracy” would soon be confronted with unprecedented military action. The security source added that the Iranian Armed Forces believe that patience has limits and that “a harsh response is necessary if Washington continues its illegal naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.”
He explained that the restraint shown by the Iranian armed forces was aimed at giving diplomacy a chance, and allowing the United States to see and accept Iran’s conditions for ending the war permanently.
