The shepherd’s stick in confronting the occupation…the story of a Lebanese man who was not broken by the war policy

Muhammad Shuraim made his land and livestock fuel for his steadfastness and a witness that life does not bow to bombing, after he remained in his village throughout the days of the war, while the world around him was narrowing and turning into emergency maps.

Narrating his journey of clinging to the land, Shuraim said that he kept expanding the area of ​​life with a bucket of water and a handful of fodder, stressing that his land is a legacy of fathers and grandfathers, and that every morning he spent here during the war was a silent declaration that victory is for life.

Shreim said, “During the days of the intensification of the war, I continued to hold on to my land, because this is the land that I do not want to secure, just as I was serious about it. I will not leave it and let it go to anyone, not to the Israelis or to anyone. I mean, this land is essentially ours, so I have never tried to leave it, not this war, nor the war before it, nor the one after it.”

The shepherd, Muhammad Shuraim, began the journey of compensating for his losses after the truce, during which he did not neglect his will to rise again. He said that a strong bombing struck the area and the breeders lost their productivity, as the livestock were terrified by the severity of the beatings, which increased his accumulated pain since 2023 and before, when the disease struck his livestock, and then the war of 2025 and 2026 came, causing him to suffer losses that exceed his losses.

After all this suffering and steadfastness in the face of aggression, Al-Rahi called on the youth of his country to cling to their land and not flee despite the war, and not to search for better life opportunities outside the south, stressing that south Lebanon is beautiful and has many life opportunities, and said, “The south is big, the south is not an hamlet, and two hamlets in the south are a quarter of Lebanon.”

Shuraim concluded by saying: “Stay firm with your land, and stand firm with your livelihood. Do not travel, leave your family, or leave your land for anyone.”

The story of Muhammad Shuraim is living proof that true victory begins with will. The will of a man who saw every morning he spent among his livestock under bombardment as a silent declaration that victory was for life.
