Ivar Stenberg was selected second in the NHL draft.

The 18-year-old became the fourth Swede ever to finish second.

The former Frölunda player was selected by the San José Sharks.

The super talent pulled on the turquoise shirt with the number 26 on the back. Stenberg helped win the JVM with Sweden and was the Junior crowns’ best scorer in the tournament.

– I am very happy. I blacked out when I got the call. I just remember hugging my mom. It was special, says Stenberg.

He is looking forward to making an impression on his new team. In San José, he becomes teammates with the talented Macklin Celebrini.

– I am excited. They have something good going on. I want to get into the team as quickly as possible.

– He is a smart player who will fit in well in San José. They have many young players, he will fit in well, says brother Otto Stenberg, who was drafted by St. Louis Blues 2023.
