Real Madrid signed Dutch defender Denzil Dumfries from Italian Inter Milan for about 20 million euros (about 23 million dollars), according to what was announced by the second-placed Spanish football league last season on Sunday.
The Royal Club said in a statement: “We have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Denzil Dumfries, who will be linked to our club for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2030.”

The contract with Dumfries, 30 years old, comes within the framework of strengthening the ranks of the 15-time European champion under the leadership of his new coach, the Portuguese Jose Mourinho, who returns to lead him for a second period after the first between 2010 and 2013, succeeding Alvaro Arbeloa.
The management of the Spanish capital club is seeking to rebuild the team after two consecutive seasons without major titles.
Dumfries strengthens the competition in the right-back position alongside English international Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Dutch player joined Inter from PSV Eindhoven in 2021, and won the Italian League title with the Lombard team twice, in 2024 and 2026. He also finished runner-up in the Champions League twice in 2023 and 2025.
The defender is Real’s fourth signing this summer, after left-back Mark Cucurria, Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva, and French centre-back Ibrahima Konate.
Dumfries participated with the Netherlands in the 2026 World Cup, which is currently being held in the United States, Mexico and Canada, by playing all four matches in full, before his country was eliminated in the round of 32 by Morocco 2-3 on penalties (1-1 in regular and extra time), noting that he provided two assists in the tournament.
