Cristiano Ronaldo, 41, has had a long and successful career.

But the ongoing world championship is his last chance to be able to lift the WC trophy.

– Let’s enjoy it, he says.

Portugal is in the round of 16 in the World Cup and faces neighboring Spain on Monday.

During the last press conference before the match, world star Cristiano Ronaldo confirms that the meeting may be his last in the context of the World Cup.

– This is my last World Cup, says the Portuguese Record and then continue:

– Regardless of what happens tomorrow, Cristiano will leave here with a clear conscience. Not 100 percent, 1000 percent. I gave everything to football.

“Will be a tough fight”

However, he does not want to answer if this summer’s WC will be his last appearance in the national team.

– I will finish, as I said a few years ago, when I want to. Not when you want. I think it’s a waste of time to always ask the same question. I don’t want to draw attention to it, the most important thing is that we play well tomorrow and have faith that we will move on, he says.

However, it can be easier said than done, says the 41-year-old.

– Since I came here, I have always seen Spain as a contender to win everything. Tomorrow will be a very tough fight and we have to have a lot of faith, run and be brave. That’s the only way to win.

Earlier in the summer, Ronaldo became the first player ever to score in six consecutive World Cups. During his time in the national team, Portugal has reached a World Cup semi-final the longest, after which they lost the bronze medal match against Germany.
