The Martyr Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of the Hamas movement, revealed new scenes of a maneuver carried out by its naval forces in the northern Gaza Strip area during the past few years before the “Al-Aqsa Flood” battle.
These scenes came in the context of a video clip broadcast by Al-Qassam documenting the biography of the martyr, field commander Ramzi Ramadan Hamid, who was serving as Marine Corps Commander in the Northern Brigade of the Al-Qassam Brigades.
“The masts of the conquerors”
Hamid appeared in the video saying, “We named this maneuver the Masts of the Conquerors after our brother Abu Anas Al-Ghandour, who gave the name Muhammad the Conqueror to this site, the former site of the Oasis, and after the Battle of the Masts of the Conqueror led by Muhammad the Conqueror in Constantinople,” referring to the naval force site that was preparing and equipping fighters in the northern Gaza Strip area.
The scenes show military training and maneuvers carried out by Al-Qassam fighters in the Marine Corps inside the sea waters of the Gaza Strip using rubber boats simulating an attack on the occupation’s installations and naval targets. More than one target was blown up during the exercises.
Al-Qassam fighters are also shown diving into the depths of the sea and emerging to the beach under violent showers of bullets, which were later known as “human frogs.”
A number of Al-Qassam commanders who were martyred since the beginning of the war on Gaza in 2023 appeared in the video, including Abu Anas Al-Ghandour, Abu Suhaib Al-Biyari, Abu Al-Abd Siam, and Abu Suhaib Al-Haddad, all of whom were commanders of the Al-Qassam Brigades and officials of the Northern Gaza Strip Brigade. The martyr Hudhayfah Al-Kahlot (Abu Ubaida) also appeared.
Successful naval operations
The naval force of the Qassam Brigades succeeded in infiltrating the beaches of Zikim twice. The first was during the war on Gaza in 2014, where scenes documented the arrival of Al-Qassam members to Zikim Beach and their clash with Israeli forces.
As for the second time, which was more momentum and successful, on the morning of the attack on October 7, 2023, a group of Qassam fighters arrived at the Zikim naval base and clashed with the Israeli forces, killing and wounding a number of them.
The “Al-Aqsa Flood” is an operation launched by the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip against Israel at dawn on Saturday, October 7, 2023, and included a land, sea and air attack and the infiltration of the resistance into several settlements in the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian resistance fighters infiltrated the settlements around the Gaza Strip through the border fence and through frogman units from the sea, in addition to paratroopers from the “Saqr” regiment of the Al-Qassam Brigades.
