The American company for virtual reality equipment, Virtuix, has officially launched a new update for its Omni One walking device that officially adds support for Meta Quest glasses, as the device is now able to pair directly with the glasses and transfer movement to them, according to a report by the American technical website “Tech Spot” on June 24.
The Omni One device is one of the multi-directional walking devices that transfers the user’s movement in all its details into games and virtual reality, making it easier for the user to control the character within his world more precisely.
The device provides a completely different user experience for owners of Meta Quest glasses, as the device now adds a control mechanism for them without relying on the traditional joystick, keeps users on a stable, smooth base and tracks their steps in all directions.
There are many games available in Meta Quest glasses that support this device and its control, starting with “The Veil,” “Forefront,” “The Boys,” and “Star Trek: Infection,” with expectations that more games will be added in the future.
The device does not separate between users who rely on “Omni One” and users who control games by default.
The company explained in its statement that “Omni One” turns the gaming experience in virtual reality into an exercise that helps the user burn more than 700 calories per hour, depending on the effort expended and the type of game.
The company provides the device at a price of $2,600 through its distribution partners, and users will also be able to purchase it directly from the “Meta” store.
Military uses
In a related context, a report published by the Simply Wall Street website revealed that the company “Vertux” has entered into several future projects with various arms of the US military, including the Air Force and Navy, to use the company’s devices in their exercises.
The company plans to add a set of military exercises in the special product intended for the US Army. This allows soldiers and military leaders to plan missions before actually starting to carry them out, as well as to train in different environments, according to the report.
The addition of Meta support and the company’s military operations contributed to enhancing the performance of its shares in recent sessions, as its shares jumped to achieve growth of about 25% after suffering from negative performance in the recent period.
