Leo Carlsson, 21, has not signed a new contract with Anaheim.

The Philadelphia Flyers have seen their chance.

They have given him a contract proposal worth a breathtaking 18 million dollars per season, the club writes on its homepage.

Leo Carlsson’s contract with the Anaheim Ducks has expired, but he is a so-called restricted free agent.

This means that other teams have the opportunity to give an “offer sheet”. It is a contract proposal that is presented to the player and in this case Anaheim has seven days to match it.

Should they not do so, the Flyers are forced to give up four first-round draft picks if Anaheim chooses not to match the bid.

18 million dollars corresponds to around 173 million kroner per season and that makes him the best paid player in the league. This as he gets the same salary in Anaheim if they choose to match the offer. The proposed contract is for five seasons.
