More than 500 people have died in an ongoing Ebola outbreak in Congo-Kinshasa, according to figures from the World Health Organization (WHO).
The deadly disease Ebola continues to claim victims. New figures presented by the WHO on Monday show that 1,561 cases of Ebola have been confirmed since the start of the epidemic in mid-May – of which 506 people have been recorded dead in Congo-Kinshasa. Two people have died of Ebola in Uganda.
The bundibugyo virus variant is behind the current outbreak. There are no vaccines or specific treatments against it.
