The Danish Minister of Justice Nicolai Wammen is “deeply touched and angry” after the beating to death of a Swedish man in connection with a World Cup event in Copenhagen.
Wammen calls the incident on Tuesday “terrible and senseless” in a written comment to the Ritzau news agency.
“My thoughts and deepest sympathy go out to the relatives,” he says further.
On Saturday, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen also spoke about the incident.
“I am full of sadness and anger that a young Swedish man has lost his life in Copenhagen during what should have been a peaceful World Cup event. May the culprit be punished harshly and fairly,” he wrote on X.
The suspected perpetrator turned himself in to the police on Friday. He denies any wrongdoing. The victim was a Swedish police officer who was on holiday.
