Will burn his diaries in a barrel

Marie Göranzon reflects on life – and burns her diaries.
She wants to have control over them and doesn’t want to “give everything away”.
– Saving them would be asking for eternal life, she says in “Summer in P1”.
The actor Marie Goranzon83, tells in “Summer in P1” about old age and his thoughts about death.
– Life is not over, but so much more change is not to be expected. So tonight I’m going to throw all the diaries in a barrel and set them on fire. I didn’t realize until now that it’s over soon. It is not fun at all to become aware that you will soon disappear, she says in the program.
Göranzon says that she always went around thinking that no one would manage without her, but that she now realized that her children and grandchildren can manage on their own.
– I have contact with everyone. They are there. We call, they answer, call back. But now on his own terms. I am not responsible for anyone, I am not needed. It was a bit of a shock to suddenly discover that they don’t need me. But it’s not with sadness, it’s a liberation, she says.
– If I die tomorrow, I think I have lived a good life. Yes, maybe a little hard sometimes. I have loved all my children and grandchildren as much as I could. I have many friends. I don’t know if I have any enemies, but I can’t think of anyone like that.
That’s why she burns her diaries
Marie Göranzon burns her diaries because she wants to have control over them and does not want to “give everything away”.
– But you can ask me anything. To save them would be asking for eternal life.
– Life doesn’t have to be over now, but in a way, my development is at the end of life. Surely not much more can happen now. It is what it is. And I am what I am. It’s in those books. If I haven’t learned anything from it yet, I probably won’t until I’m 90, if that happens.
“Summer in P1” with Marie Göranzon is broadcast on Sveriges radio P1 at 1 pm and released in the Sveriges radio app at 7 am on Sunday 5 July.
