Julian Ryerson returns for Norway
Ryerson returns to Norway’s starting lineup after missing the win over Ivory Coast, with Marcus Holmgren Pedersen dropping to the bench.

Martinelli starts for Brazil
…and the replacement for Paqueta is Gabriel Martinelli, who scored the winner against Japain.
That’s the only change in Ancelotti’s starting XI.
Rayan, 19, keeps his place in attack alongside Vinicius Jr and Matheus Cunha, with Raphinha and Neymar on the bench after injuries.

Paqueta blow for Brazil
Brazil carry the more influential injury absence with Lucas Paqueta suffering a hamstring strain during their 2-1 victory over Japan.
That could bring more burden on midfield colleague Bruno Guimaraes, whose four assists rank second in the tournament behind the five of France’s Michael Olise.
Carlo Ancelotti admitted there won’t be a perfect solution for replacing the work Paqueta does in connecting defence and attack.
“We do not have anyone else on the team with the same characteristics as Lucas Paqueta, so we’ll have to find someone else,” he said ahead of the game. “I’ll choose the player based on the type of match that we expect, considering obviously the strength of our opponent.”
Can Marquinhos-Gabriel partnership hold Haaland at bay?
While Brazil are generally synonymous with attacking football, Haaland may face the most formidable defensive duo he has seen so far in centre-backs Gabriel Magalhaes and Marquinhos.
“I think that Brazil has one of the greatest partnerships in the central defence in this World Cup,” Norway coach Solbakken said. “But it’s, for me, more about Brazil against Norway and not those two against Haaland.”
Norway’s famous 1998 win
Norway can take heart from their last meeting with Brazil at a World Cup, when they edged the defending champions 2-1 in the group stage in 1998.
That version of Brazil entered as tournament favourites and rotated their squad after clinching a knockouts spot.
This one is seen by some as eminently beatable, presenting Norway with a chance to make national history with a first quarterfinal appearance.
Vinicius Jr vs Haaland
For the first time in this World Cup, two top-scoring stars meet in the knockout round as Brazil’s Vinicius Junior faces Erling Haaland of Norway.
Haaland has scored five times from just three matches in his first World Cup appearance, having been rested for the final group match against France.
He is tied for third behind Argentina’s Lionel Messi and France’s Kylian Mbappé, both on seven goals from five matches.
Vinicius Jr is one of several players sitting on four goals.
