Young voters are looking to the left.
Donald Trump’s press secretary sees a reason.
– They are lazy, says Karoline Leavitt.
The revelation about Generation Z, teenagers and young adults born between 1997 and 2012, came during an interview with Fox News.
Along with host Jesse Watters, Leavitt discussed the fact that left-leaning Democratic candidates recently won a number of New York primaries.
Lazy and comfortable
Young voters in particular have turned to the candidates who belong to a faction within the Democrats that calls itself “democratic socialists”.
This got Donald Trump to threaten that “godless communists” may take power in Congress in November.
Watters asked Leavitt if complaining about the cost of things has caught on with young people.
She agrees, saying that her generation is lazy and comfortable.
“Unfortunately, I do, because this generation, my generation, I hate to say it, Gen Z and those younger than me have been brought up with a silver spoon in their mouth and given everything for free,” says Karoline Leavitt, 28, to Fox News according to Newsweek.
“Send them to Iran”
– It is not the values that built this country. It is built on meritocracy and hard work.
She is also asked if the problem with her generation is laziness.
– It’s laziness and liberal indoctrination, Leavitt replies.
Trump’s press secretary also says in the interview that young people who don’t behave “should be sent to Cuba or Iran”.
– Then they would quickly want to come back, she says.
Was off for a week
Leavitt herself recently returned to the White House seven weeks after giving birth to her second child in May.
Her first parental leave ended after a week when Donald Trump was shot during a rally in Pennsylvania in July 2024.
