Egypt won over Australia 4-2 on penalty kicks in the round of 32, on Friday in Dallas, to qualify for the final 16 in a historic achievement for the Pharaohs, within the tournament hosted jointly by Canada, Mexico and the United States.
The media official for the Egyptian national team, Mohamed Murad, revealed the details of the incident, saying, “A man and his son went to take a picture with Ibrahim Hassan and Trezeguet, and the national team manager agreed to the request. However, one of the security personnel intervened and pushed the fan, as well as Trezeguet and Ibrahim Hassan, even though the player and the team manager were in the area designated for them. Then Ibrahim asked the security officer to deal with the fan in a normal way.”
The Dallas Police Department said it was aware of a video circulating on social media showing a heated argument involving one of its officers.
She said in a statement posted on social media: “The Dallas Police Department responded to a request from the security of a hotel in the area regarding a person trying to enter without having an event accreditation card.”
She added, “It was later discovered that the individuals were not properly displaying their entry permits, which is mandatory. The situation was resolved on site, and the Dallas Police Department met with representatives of the team to address their concerns. The matter has since been resolved.”
