Hammarby is looking for an interesting centre-back.
Sportbladet learns that Bajen is negotiating with FC Copenhagen about English and South African youth international Waylon Renecke, 20.
Left-footed Renecke, who has 16 youth caps for England and South Africa, made his first impression in Swedish football last fall as a loan to Örgryte, who then took the step up to the allsvenskan from the super one.
Renecke played 11 out of 13 games from the start for Öis and was highly praised by sporting director Pontus Farnerud and coach Andreas Holmberg.
But the centre-back returned to FC Copenhagen to which he belongs last winter to go directly on a new loan to Esbjerg in the Danish second division.
Öis wanted to keep Renecke but could not afford to pay the transfer fee that FCK requested.
In Esbjerg, things have gone so well that they wanted to extend the loan from FCK, but there they have been refused, according to Sportbladet’s information.
Instead, Hammarby has stepped in to try to get the 187-centimeter center back whose contract with FCK expires next summer.
Sportbladet asks Hammarby’s sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg about the information about the interest in Waylon Renecke:
– It’s not something I want to comment on right now.
Hammarby restarts in the Allsvenskan on Sunday, away to Elfsborg.
