Instead of sending the ball over the goal line, Fabian Rieder shot parallel to it – and both players and spectators seemed stunned by the miss.

24-year-old Rieder shook his head in disappointment afterwards, but in retrospect he can laugh about the fad.
Switzerland led the round of 16 against Algeria 2–0 when the situation became clear with ten minutes remaining – and there were no more goals in the match.
