The plane that Donald Trump has received as a gift from Qatar has made its maiden voyage with the president on board.
The plane is a Boeing 747-400 that has been renovated for 400 million dollars, corresponding to over 3.8 billion kroner. The gift has raised ethical and security concerns.
“This will be the first flight of what I believe may be the best commercial airplane ever built,” Trump said before boarding, reports The Wall Street Journal.
The plane is painted in white and dark blue and has stripes in red and gold. Inside, it is equipped with soft carpets, reclining seats and the presidential seal on, among other things, the seat belts.
The new plane will be used pending two new aircraft that are expected to be delivered no earlier than 2028. It lacks the full safety systems of the older planes.
