She was sleeping with her youngest daughter when a hand grenade was thrown through the bedroom window in Tumba.
Her husband had to carry her out through the fiery inferno.
– Within a few seconds, everything was destroyed, says the woman who lost both legs in the attack P3 Crimea.
It was like any other Sunday, April 27, 2025. The toddler family in Tumba had cleaned and shopped for the week ahead. Out in the yard, the father had tried to teach the youngest daughter to ride a bicycle.
But before Monday came, everything would change.
A hand grenade tore the family’s life apart. The mother of the family lost both legs. The youngest daughter suffered life-threatening injuries.
– I had told my wife that Sweden is the safest place in the world for women and children. And then this happened. In my own home, says the man in the family P3 Crimea.
Met by blood and fire
In the program, the family talks for the first time about what happened that night.
The mother had just turned off the light to go to sleep at around 11.30pm when she was awakened by a deafening bang.
– It sounded like the glass broke. When I opened my eyes, I saw some kind of light, she says.
Next to her lay the family’s youngest daughter, screaming.
When the father rushed into the room, he was met by fire and blood. He tried to get his wife and daughter to run out. But they couldn’t. When he lifted the wife’s cover, he saw only blood. He had to carry her out through the burning room. Soon after, he picked up the four-year-old daughter.
The mother had difficulty understanding how badly she was injured, she says.
– What I remember is that I was lying on the grass in front of the house and I might have lost consciousness sometimes. I remember feeling like my whole body was on fire. I thought it’s just some sores or injuries and I’ll probably be fine in a couple of days.
“Phobia for windows”
But it won’t be like that. The mother is kept sedated for several days. When she wakes up, both of her legs are amputated. The daughter had also received life-threatening injuries and was hovering between life and death. To this day, the mother suffers from phantom pains and the daughter does not have the same energy to play with other children anymore.
– My whole life has changed. If I happen to drop something, I have to call someone else to pick it up. I have acquired a phobia of windows. I get scared that someone will throw something through my window, she says.
The father hardly dares to leave her alone at home and the daughters are frightened by the slightest sound.
Tiktok profile was condemned
Last week, the Foxtrot-linked one was sentenced Tiktok profile Joseph Said to life in prison after instigating the hand grenade attack in Tumba. The crime was directed at a man with a drug addiction. But the perpetrator threw the grenade into the wrong window.
The convicted must also pay damages to the family.
