From today, Sweden will become a European low-price mecca for those who fill up with petrol or diesel.

On 1 May, the energy tax on petrol and diesel was lowered to the EU’s minimum level, which, including VAT, meant a price reduction at the pump of around 1 kroner for a liter of petrol and around 40 öre for a liter of diesel. The reduction applies until September 30.

From today, another temporary reduction comes into effect. From July 1 to September 30, the tax is reduced by SEK 3 per litre, including VAT, for petrol and diesel.

On June 30, a liter of petrol cost SEK 17.39 at the leading chains and a liter of diesel cost SEK 19.29. This means that the prices from today should land at SEK 14.39 and SEK 16.29, respectively.
