Plans to build new nuclear power at Barsebäck worry many Danes, according to an opinion poll conducted on behalf of the news agency Ritzau.
39.5 percent respond that they agree or completely agree to the question of whether they are concerned about plans to place reactors just over two miles from Copenhagen, shows the survey made by the institute Voxmeter. Almost as many, over 38 percent, believe that the reactors should not be built.
Just over 1,000 people have responded to the survey.
It was earlier in June that the company Nordic Baseload Power submitted an application to the government for state aid to build two full-sized boiling water reactors of the BWR-N type at Barsebäck. However, Uniper, which owns Barsebäck, has stated that it does not plan to lease any land for the company’s plans.
