Today, Wednesday, the Qatari Cabinet expressed its pride in the “historic achievement” achieved by Qatari diplomacy within the framework of its constructive partnership with the Republic of Pakistan, which led to the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran.
The Council expressed its hope to “continue negotiations in the same positive spirit and true will” to reach a final agreement that turns the page on the conflict peacefully.
Yesterday, Tuesday, Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif praised the “vital support” provided by Qatar to help reach the memorandum signed between Washington and Tehran, which he said “pave the way towards a comprehensive agreement between the two sides.”
On June 14, Iran and the United States announced that they had reached a 14-item memorandum of understanding, mediated by Pakistan, aimed at stopping the war and resolving differences between the two parties through dialogue.
The memorandum, known as the “Islamabad Understanding,” entered into force on June 18, after it was signed electronically by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his American counterpart, Donald Trump. It includes provisions related to ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and lifting the American naval blockade on Iran.
