Today, Wednesday, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, discussed in a telephone call with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the latest developments in the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.

The Amiri Diwan said that during the call, bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, in addition to developments in the regional situation, especially developments in the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.

The Emir of Qatar expressed his condolences and sympathy to the Pakistani Prime Minister for the victims of the explosion that occurred in an industrial facility in the Ras Laffan area, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of Pakistani citizens.

For his part, the Pakistani Prime Minister praised the efforts of the State of Qatar in promoting regional security, peace and stability, expressing his appreciation for the efforts it is making in supporting security and stability in the region.

The Pakistani Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Emir of Qatar for the health care provided by Doha for the injured, and the efforts made by the competent authorities in dealing with the accident.

The two sides affirmed their solidarity with the families of the victims, and the two countries’ keenness to strengthen cooperation in a way that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

The Qatari Ministry of Interior announced, the day before yesterday, Monday, the death of 13 people and the injury of 66 others of different nationalities, in the accident that occurred in a factory in the Ras Laffan Industrial Area in northern Qatar as a result of a technical malfunction.

Qatar and Pakistan play a mediation role that resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.
