Bianca Salming, 27, has a turbulent time behind her.

But now she is injury-free, focused on athletics and ready for Let’s Dance.

– You enjoy a little extra when you have come out the other side, she says.

Bianca Salming hesitates a little whether she can answer the question or not.

– I don’t know if I can say it, but yes, sometime before.

As the answer suggests, the 27-year-old all-rounder has been asked to be on Let’s Dance before. Then it didn’t fit but this time it was different.

– If there’s one program I want to be part of over the years, it’s Let’s Dance. I really like dancing and have been following it since I was little. Every Friday I sat and ate chips and sweets and watched, she says and continues:

– Just this year, it’s a little different and it was timed that it was a week after the European Athletics Championships, which I have as my biggest goal. Then I thought: “you know what, now I say yes”.

Salming did dance and some theater as a child, but not much more than that.

– Otherwise, I’ve just bugged at home with my mother and kind of danced when you went out with friends. But I always liked to dance. It feels very fun and I want to go as far as possible so that I can dance all the dances, that’s my goal.

Exercising to the fullest

That Bianca Salming will be in Let’s Dance is a sign that the body is doing well. Earlier this year, she was forced to cancel the indoor season due to an injured foot.

But since a month ago, the all-rounder is on the right track. She will compete in the Team Championship this weekend and in July the all-rounder has two attempts to qualify for the Athletics European Championship in Birmingham in August, first July 11-12 in Bialystok, Poland followed by the Championship in Uppsala July 24-26.

– In the last month I have felt that I can do every branch, and enjoy it and I have almost forgotten that I have been in pain. It’s a sign that it’s almost gone, pepper, pepper.

Turbulent time

Salming says that she is in a good place, both physically and mentally.

– It has been a year that has been very turbulent, partly psychologically and partly because you have had a small injury that is constantly nagging. Athletics is always my free zone, but you can’t even enjoy it there and it has been very bitter. But now I feel very well as a person and have no injury concerns. Then it takes a while to feel 100 percent after an injury.

Why has it been turbulent?

– A combination of my private life and the fact that you are injured. Everything hasn’t felt so great all the time. I’ve been feeling good too, but it’s been a year where it feels like a lot has happened privately. And then I’ve just tried to feel good all the time but it’s been up and down.

She tells us that she feels like she has come out the other side.

– Athletics affects my whole life. As soon as I can enjoy it there and train as usual, it affects my whole life. At the same time, you get a rekindling of fun projects like Let’s Dance. Life just feels fun and good and funny things happen.

A recipe for that is to find a balance between training and life outside athletics.

– I can easily get quite into athletics, but I realized that I have to enjoy life too. Like agreeing to things like this and being with friends. All of a sudden, it seems that the body feels better then too. I just have to learn that that’s the kind of person I am.

“Fun to manage my own life”

On the private side, life changed a few months ago when the long-standing relationship with former NHL player Tobias Lindberg ended. On that front, it is nothing new.

– I would say that I am not dating anyone right now. Just the other day, I kind of realized that … a lot of times you’re going to date and stuff but maybe I don’t even want to be with someone right now. That’s okay too. I think it’s a lot of fun to run my own life now and just enjoy it.
