A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to sue Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and several other politicians.
In addition to Walz, the subpoenas included, among others, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and relate to statements about the controversial ICE operation in the Minneapolis region at the beginning of the year.
According to Judge Patrick Schlitz, the lawsuits from the US Department of Justice are a way to “harass and retaliate” because politicians in Minnesota did not assist the federal government in the desired way.
Schlitz also states that the attached documentation shows “extremely weak or even non-existent” links to violations of the law.
Walz challenged President Donald Trump in the 2024 election as the Democratic vice presidential candidate along with presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
