The hard-pressed British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is said to announce his future at the post shortly, The Observer reports, among other things, with reference to sources.

Andy Burnham – who has been described as Starmer’s rival and challenger – this week secured a seat in the British House of Commons, paving the way for a battle for the position of Labor leader and, by extension, the role of prime minister.

British media are now reporting that Keir Starmer is nearing a decision to resign. According to sources to The Observer, Starmer has concluded that his “position is no longer tenable” based on conversations with ministers, donors and union leaders in recent days.

Labor sources say that an announcement could come as early as Monday and that Burnham has enough support in parliament to challenge Starmer.
