Three wreaths – one mission.
That’s what happened to Aftonbladet’s festive midsummer wreaths and their wonderful journeys.
– It feels very fun, says Mija Pavlovic from the winning team.
During Midsummer Eve, Aftonbladet sent out three flower wreaths on an adventure through Sweden.
The mission was simple: whoever received a wreath was to take a picture, send a greeting to the editors, and then pass it on to someone else. The goal? To spread midsummer cheer and see which wreath got the most eventful celebration.
And of course it was an adventure. Now Aftonbladet can reveal a winner – but we start with the bronze money.
In third place is wreath number two. It began its journey in Mariefred together with sisters Majken, 6, and Ruth, soon to be 5, who celebrated Midsummer with family and friends.
At the midsummer bar in Kalkudden, they found a new owner.
– She was kind, and that’s the most important thing, Ruth said of Moa, who took over the wreath.
Then there was silence. The wreath disappeared from our field of vision and its further fate is still unknown. We hope that it was able to be part of many nice midsummer memories on its own.
Bonuskransen’s crazy party night
In second place comes the bonus wreath.
After spending parts of the day in a fridge at the newsroom, it finally had to go on an adventure. The first bearer was Jennifer, who was just about to board the ferry to Turku for a midsummer cruise.
The wreath then continued between several happy Midsummer celebrants on board. One of them was Vuokko, who reported on good food, good music and good company out on the terrace. After that, the tracks also ran out for the bonus wreath.
But the winner was hard to beat.
The winners: “It feels great”
Crown number one made it all the way to Gothenburg. On the way, it passed several different carriers before finally ending up in Gothenburg’s archipelago.
There it appeared at a party for an upcoming wedding on Styrsö.
During the evening, the wreath passed between Marshal Markus, the groom’s father Kazi and finally the groom Mazi himself. Then the party continued well into the wee hours together with new porters and new stories.
Just before midnight, the last greeting came from Styrsö.
When Aftonbladet on Saturday reaches Mija Pavlovic and Sergej Lakic, who were the first to receive the wreath – they are both happy and proud.
– This is fantastic information. It feels great, says Mija Pavlovic.
Aftonbladet would like to thank everyone who received, carried, photographed and sent on the festive wreaths.
You turned a simple experiment into a trip through Sweden – filled with midsummer joy, meetings and unexpected adventures.
Happy summer!
