NOVEL Age crisis deluxe, and a chance to turn your life around. That’s what this snack book is about, which is both loved and makes people mad. Our protagonist – a 45-year-old female artist, successful and settled – suffers a complete tsunami of lust for a younger man. In addition, the realization: she is in pre-menopause. She feels a great need to explore and push boundaries sexually. It’s meaty, carnal scenes, to say the least, nothing too intimate to depict. A pointed and funny but actually also moving story.

NOVEL A new edition that unadornedly depicts the life of a newly separated young woman in the 1920s. Post-war period and new thinking. One-time affairs and infidelity loosen conservative frameworks, while the view of women is still strict. Patricia’s heart is broken, and with the support of her best friend, she fumbles her way through a cheerful New York. A book that, like Elin Cullhed states in the preface, deserves classic status.

DETECTIVE STORY A cold case is in focus: a man confessed to the murder of a woman, but no remains have been found. Mysterious findings in the Gotland countryside make the investigation relevant again. Detective Inspector Gunnar Barbarotti’s last case is a gem with clear Nesserian features: an intricate detective mystery with numerous fog curtains, subtle humor and rap dialogue (not least with the gunman Eva Backman). A compelling crime story.

NOVEL Phoebe Stone gets to be part of a lavish wedding in Newport, Rhode Island – but she’s in miserable shape. She has been abandoned and sees no meaning in life. But during the party preparations, an unexpected crush arises, and Phoebe’s spirits soar. Absurd scenes are mixed with a good dose of dark humor. I laughed out loud while reading it – but the story also tugs at the heartstrings. A message glitters between the lines: you never know what will happen when you dare to be yourself.
