On the night of New Year’s Eve, a 20-year-old man was beaten and stabbed to death in a forest area outside Ullared.
Now the Court of Appeal sentences two men to life imprisonment for murder.
The men, both aged 35, were arrested after one of them confessed to the crime to officers who had won his trust during an undercover infiltration operation. One of them, who is not a Swedish citizen, has been deported.
The murdered man’s body was only found at the end of January. He had then been lying dead in the forest area for almost a month.
In March, the men were sentenced to life imprisonment in the Varberg district court. The Court of Appeal determines the issue of guilt and the penalty, but rules, unlike the district court, that damages should only be paid to the victim’s parents and not to the siblings.
