After being deprived of watching their country’s national team in the World Cup for the third time in a row, it seems that Italian fans are inclined to support Spain and Brazil, led by their compatriot Carlo Ancelotti, during the 2026 World Cup, with a clear tendency to support some other teams during the upcoming tournament.
According to an opinion poll conducted by the SWG Foundation, which specializes in this field, 59% of the 800 Italian participants confirmed that they would watch the World Cup matches, despite the Azzurri not qualifying.

Among this group, 17% chose to support the Brazilian national team, while 16% preferred to support Spain, while Argentina received 10% of the votes, compared to 5% for both France and England.

In a related context, Italian Sports Minister Andrea Abudi told the public broadcaster Rai that he will support a number of teams during the tournament, including Brazil, led by coach Carlo Ancelotti, in addition to other teams supervised by Italian coaches in the World Cup, such as the teams of Turkey and Uzbekistan, led by Vincenzo Montella and Fabio Cannavaro respectively.
This interest comes at a time when Italy is experiencing new disappointment after failing to reach the finals, continuing its absence from the decisive rounds since its last World Cup victory 20 years ago.
