In order for the Tidö parties to get all their proposals through before the election, debates are held in the Riksdag over the weekend.
Debates on the weekends and an extra convened summer parliament. That is what is required to ensure that all the bills put forward by the government have time to be debated and voted on before the autumn.
During Saturday, among other things, stricter penalty scales will therefore be debated, and on Sunday, among other things, behavioral requirements for residence permits will be debated.
That debates are held on a weekend is rare. The last time this happened was, according to the Riksdag’s information, in April 2023.
Then the government wanted to get through a quick decision to evacuate Swedes from Sudan in connection with the outbreak of the civil war.
