Skokloster hosted a heavy royal meeting on National Day, when Carl XVI Gustaf inaugurated a huge golden sculpture of the king of the forest.
The work of art is called “Kingsälgen”, was created by sculptor Jerker Andersson and it now stands at Skokloster Wärdshus in Håbo municipality. The elk is dedicated to the king, who had the honor of unveiling the creation.
In his speech during the town’s national day celebration, the king mentioned, among other things, the municipality’s rich birdlife and the fact that he and Silvia have now spent the national day in all counties with the visit.
– This visit represents a milestone for the Queen and me. We have now celebrated the national day in all of Sweden’s 21 counties – and saved Uppsala county for last, he said.
