In recent hours, social media platforms in Egypt have been buzzing with two incidents that have sparked a wide wave of questions and controversy among pioneers of the digital space, as they are linked to issues of blackmail and violation of moral values within institutions that are supposed to be based on trust and discipline.

Blackmailing a female guardian in Qalyubia

The guardian recorded the conversation and revealed the incident, which opened the door to widespread demands on social media platforms to open an urgent investigation and hold any official proven involved accountable, in order to preserve the prestige of educational institutions and the rights of parents.

As popular anger escalated, the governor of Qalyubia quickly canceled the assignment of the director of the Preparatory Education Department in the Governorate’s Education Directorate, suspended him from work, and referred him to immediate investigation.

Tweeters considered that what was stated in the video represents unprofessional and immoral behavior that does not befit an educational official who is supposed to be a role model in respect and discipline, stressing that the relationship between the school administration and parents must be based on mutual respect and clear professional boundaries.

Any expressions that carry personal connotations or invitations outside the framework of educational work are considered an unacceptable transgression that harms the status of the educational institution and weakens trust between the family and the school.

Others stressed the need to deal with these incidents seriously and transparently in accordance with the laws and regulations, emphasizing that the results of official investigations remain the decisive factor in determining responsibilities and procedures.

Luring girls and photographing them in Sharqia

As for the second case, it was related to a person in Al-Sharqiya Governorate luring girls to engage in immoral acts inside a residential apartment and photographing them, with the aim of blackmailing them later.

As the clips related to the case spread, a state of anger prevailed on social media platforms, and some users commented by saying that such crimes “occur everywhere in the world,” but the strangeness, as they described it, lies in a person with some degree of planning committing these acts, without taking into account that he will fall in the end, considering that “the problem of evil is when it meets stupidity,” as they put it.

Egyptian Interior Ministry data

In the midst of the ongoing controversy, the Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced in two statements the arrest of the defendants in the two cases.

Regarding the case of the director of the Preparatory Education Department in Qalyubia, the Ministry of Interior said in another statement:

The statement added that the guardian explained that she wanted to transfer her daughter to a school within her place of residence in Alexandria after her separation from her husband, and when the school administration refused to do so, she went to the competent authority on May 11, where she met the person shown in the video clip, who blackmailed her as referred to in exchange for her assistance and approval to transfer her daughter.

The Ministry of Interior indicated that the accused (a resident of the Banha Police Station) was arrested, and that a decision had previously been issued by the competent administrative authority to suspend him from work in the same incident.
