Real Madrid, competing in the Spanish Premier League, announced today, Wednesday, that it has signed a contract with Portuguese international midfielder Bernardo Silva, following his departure from Manchester City at the end of his contract.
Silva had joined Manchester City from Monaco in 2017, and played 460 matches for his shirt, during which he won six English Premier League titles, three FA Cup titles, five League Cup titles, and the Champions League title, during a career that spanned nine years at Etihad Stadium.

Real Madrid signs Bernardo Silva
Last April, the English club announced the departure of the 31-year-old player.
Real Madrid said in a statement, “The club has reached an agreement with Bernardo Silva, stipulating that he will join the team on a contract extending for two seasons, until June 30, 2028.”
Silva played 109 international matches with the Portugal national team, winning the European Nations League title twice.
The player is distinguished by his tactical versatility, high technical skills, and high performance rates, as he formed one of the main pillars of the Manchester City squad under the leadership of coach Pep Guardiola, and he is expected to add great experience to the Real Madrid midfield.
The Portuguese player’s name was recently linked to a move to both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, before Real Madrid was able to finalize the deal.
This contract comes as part of the club’s efforts to strengthen its ranks after the disappointing 2025-2026 season, in which it lost the Spanish League title and was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Earlier this week, Real Madrid signed Spanish left-back Mark Cucurria from Chelsea, and there are also reports of its interest in including defenders Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries.
Real Madrid recently appointed Portuguese Jose Mourinho as coach of the team, succeeding Alvaroa Arbeloa, who in turn took over the job in the middle of last season after the dismissal of Xabi Alonso.
