– I can confirm that we are currently experiencing technical problems affecting card payments, said Jonatan Ohlin, press officer at Skandia.
Mastercard and Visa also appeared to be affected, according to the platform.
SEB, Nordea and Swedbank stated to Aftonbladet that their customers could possibly be affected as a result of technical problems with a supplier of payment terminals.
Nets press manager for the Nordics, Peter Glüsing, confirms in an email to Aftonbladet that it is an operational disruption at the payment company that is behind the problems.
“The disruption causes parts of the incoming transactions to be denied. The incident started at 9:10 a.m., and since then some payments have not been able to be processed as normal,” writes Peter Glüsing.
The company recommends merchants enable offline procedures to accept payments with certain credit cards and Visa and Mastercard cards.
“It may also be possible to receive payments via alternative methods, for example Swish”, he writes further.
It is unclear how extensive the problem is, but the cause has been identified, says the press manager Berlingske.
