The Qatari Ministry of Interior announced the death of a Qatari citizen and the injury of an Arab resident, in an incident involving a marine vessel as a result of being hit by shrapnel resulting from military operations in the region.

The Ministry stated, in an official statement issued today, that as part of the routine audit and follow-up procedures for marine vessels carried out by the General Administration of Coast and Border Security, it was found that one of the marine vessels with two people on board was late for its scheduled return date, so marine patrols immediately began searching for it since yesterday evening, Saturday.

She added that in the early hours of this morning, Sunday (June 28), the maritime search and rescue team of the General Administration of Coast and Border Security found the marine vessel, and the search operations resulted in confirming the death of a Qatari citizen as a result of being injured by shrapnel resulting from the military operations that took place in the region, while an Arab resident was injured and was transferred to receive treatment, and he is in a stable health condition.

The Ministry confirmed that it continues to complete procedures and investigations into the incident in accordance with the approved legal frameworks.
